summary of chapter 4

The first portions of chapter four of the Bedford Reader talks about how to critically read your information and the importance of evaluating your chosen topic. it is simple sounding due to both processes being the same.

Next the book focuses on how to use my research question and read critically. your chosen topic is the big picture. narrowing it down further to take a side on the issue is whats next. come up with a game plan. come up with a question that helps you to uncover critical information with in the sources you find. next come up with an answer to the question at hand. followed by your statement of your main point. remember to keep your stance when finding new sources, ideas and arguments. its OK if you position changes later in your issue. be willing to be open-minded and flexible. make sure your thesis statement is not too vague.

Being a critical reader means to ask questions and be curious. ill need to identify my key purpose and stick to it. when doing my research it is advised that i take notes and jot down questions i come up with. also highlighting other sources that i come a crossed may be rewarding as well. also make notes on how you will use what you have found to organize your thoughts.
