CHAPTER 7

To plagiarize is the say someone else’s work is your own in another words you have just broken the copyright law. Some things to remember when taking notes is the make sure you include where, when , and who you are quoting. Also make sure to always use quotations. Changing a quote to a for of a summarization must be done properly. Meaning you can not take the words of someone else and mislead the reader with just some portions of the truth. Make sure you let the readers know its not your own, and that it is someone else’s work. And don’t forget to include all your information correctly in your work cited page.
If you don’t want someone to stop reading your work or questioning your abilities in your research then you must not pass someone’s work as your own. To avoid this mistake, you can take detailed notes. Include the quotations so you don’t forget that it was a summarization of another’s work.  It’ll also be helpful to include the website, author, and the very specific spot where the piece is located. You can also use phrases to refer the reader back to the author or site. What ever the source may be make sure you give credit where credit is due.
