chapter one summary

The first chapter of the Bedford reader discusses how to make connections between your interest and your writing. decide on how to pursue your paper. options may include meeting new people, learning new things about something very new, and then developing them into a persuasive argument research paper. the bedford reader suggest taking a position on the research topic you have chosen, keeping the sources organized. it may be helpful to start a log. make sure to jot down the type of documents that are being used.

When doing your research its best to discover the needs and interest in the readers. open up and talk a bit on the values of the topic, or maybe the beliefs, and purposes of the topic. there are different things to think about when writing, keep in mind, the social, historical, or disciplinary aspects.

Being aware of the different types of devices that may be used for reading your work. managing your time is always best. choose a subject that has something that can be debated, discussed, and discover new information on that topic. try to share your understanding or evaluations attempt to convince the reader to be on the same side as you are on the topic. its smart to include your personal interpreting or analysis on the information, ideas, or arguments

Things to ask yourself prior to starting: who are my readers and why would they want to continue to take time out of their day to read my work? ask what will influence me and my readers? also what type of document am i writing? one option is to explore the many different context issues with in the topic. ask, what context will affect my work?
